When you're in Kyoto and craving delicious fugu (pufferfish), come visit “Kyou no Fuguya Kiyamachi Suehiro”—just a short walk from “Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station” and “Kiyomizu-Gojo Station”. We've been a proud fugu specialty restaurant since our founding in 1949. Over the years, we've dedicated ourselves to serving the finest seasonal fugu. Families with young children are always welcome, so please stop by during your Kyoto sightseeing.

Masterful Technique

We age our fugu for over half a day after filleting to bring out its full umami flavor. While fugu is known for its potential toxicity, our skilled chefs handle it with great care, ensuring it's perfectly safe and delicious for you to enjoy.

Limited Seasonal Operation

To maintain the highest quality, we only serve premium fugu. From Golden Week (late April to early May) through the end of August, it's difficult to source top-quality fish, so we close during this period. Our operating season varies each year depending on availability—please check the “Notice of Closure” section for details.

Hirezake and a Wide Selection of Drinks

Hirezake—warm sake infused with toasted fugu fins—is a signature drink you'll only find at a true fugu specialty restaurant. Lift the lid and a wonderful roasted aroma fills the air. We also offer a great variety of other Japanese sake and drinks.
